Lavigerie
This building was built at the beginning of the 18th century, probably after the fire of 1693 which destroyed the neighborhood. In the 20th century it became the "Lavigerie Institute" after Cardinal Lavigerie, archbishop of Algiers and founder of the Confraternity of the White Fathers. Today it houses the Tribunal of the Bas-Valais.
Ce bâtiment a été construit au début du XVIIIe siècle, probablement après l'incendie de 1693 qui détruisit le quartier. Au XXe siècle, il devint «Institut Lavigerie», du nom du Cardinal Lavigerie, archevêque d'Alger et fondateur de la Confrérie des Pères blancs, et servit d'école apostolique pour la Suisse jusqu'en 1965. Il abrite aujourd'hui le siège bas-valaisan du Ministère public du canton du Valais.
