The rotunda

Historic railway facility dating from 1907.

Located at the foot of the cliff, the SBB rotunda was built in 1907. With its motorized turntable of 18 meters in diameter, it could house thirteen locomotives. It currently houses historic rolling stock of the Foundation for the Historical Heritage of the Swiss Federal Railways. The project to transform it into a museum of the Simplon Line did not come to fruition.
Today, it is classified as a historical monument and is thus part of the Swiss industrial and railway heritage, in the same rank as the great Swiss stations of the beginning of the century.

Merci de noter que notre bureau sera fermé du vendredi 19 décembre 2025, 17h00 au lundi 5 janvier 2026, 14h00. Etant un service communal, Saint-Maurice Tourisme s'aligne sur les horaires de l'administration communale (et l'équipe récupère ainsi ses nombreuses heures supplémentaires de l'année écoulée ;) ).

Le château de Saint-Maurice et la Grotte aux fées sont fermés.
L'abbaye est ouverte jusqu'au 28 décembre, du mardi au dimanche, de 13h30 à 17h00. Attention: elle sera fermée les 24 et 25 décembre.
