Hans Erni mosaic
The first mosaic the artist created.
This mosaic of 1962, named "The evolution of man and culture" is the work of Hans Erni (1909-2015) a famous Swiss artist. It's the first mosaic that the artist built. At the starting point of the spiral that directs the whole composition, a living cell in division marks the beginning of the upward rise of life. We can observe a skull surrounded by geometric figures : the old Greek thinker, Aristotle and Saint Benedict, the old monk who opens to man a new era.
