Pulse - Zanzibar RTS

With a deep-seated desire to open up their work to a wider audience, Pulse reinvent forms and leave a pleasant sensation of freshness. With Pelva Naik (vocals), Davy Sur (percussion) and Reno Danio (chaturangui, vocals), the group borrows from the Indian musical tradition, explores the ragas repertoire and opens up new perspectives in the interpretation of the dhrupad genre, of which Pelva Naik is one of the few representatives.

Pulse is about the pulse at the heart of melodic lines, its absence or presence, thanks in particular to Davy Sur's percussion. Focusing as much on vocal work as on the chaturangui, Reno Danio's Indian slide guitar, the trio sublimates the vast register of ragas, deliberately playing with codes while retaining the richness of the repertoire thanks to improvisation as a guide.
